Slider install tips
- Chock
wheels as recommended by the vehicle manufacturer.
- Clean
vehicle sill in order to remove any excess dirt/grime
- Position
Floor jacks directly under the sill that the slider will mount to. You may
also want to place a rag on the jack to prevent scratching to the slider.
- Place
slider onto floor jacks being careful to make sure that the slider is
balanced prior to letting go of the slider.
- Start
moving the sliders into place using the jacks with one person balancing the
sliders while the other pumps the jacks.
- Once
the slider is in place close
doors and check that the gap at the front of the front fender and rear of
the rear door are approximately 1/2. Also ensure that the slider is
positioned with the same amount of distance at the front wheel well and rear
wheel well. Adjust the slider as necessary to obtain the proper fit and
desired look.
- Drill through the
front of the sill at the front most slider hole of the front section and one in the rear of the rear portion of the
slider.
- Check
that the slider is still positioned properly as noted in step
6.
- From
the back side of the sill (under Discovery) drill through the rear of the
sill at the front most slider hole of the front section and one in the rear of the rear portion of the slider.
- Insert
2 3/8 bolts with washers into the holes that you just drilled. One in the front most hole of the front
section and one in the rear portion of the
slider.
- Start
to tighten the 3 bolts until you feel that they will hold the slider in
place when you lower the jack

Warning!!!!
DO
NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE BOLTS DOING SO COULD CRUSH THE SILL
|
12. Lower
the jacks
13. Check
that the slider is still positioned properly as noted in step 6
14. Drill all
of the remaining holes.
15. Lower
slider, paint any exposed metal and clear away all metal filings.
16. Raise
slider back into position and ensure that it is in the correct position as
noted in step 6
17. Insert
the bolts with washers into the holes that you drilled.
18. Start
to tighten the bolts in small increments going from the back to the front and repeat
until the sliders mount is flush with the sill in the front and back of the
backside of the Sill.
|
Warning!!!!
DO
NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE BOLTS DOING SO COULD CRUSH THE SILL
|
(NOTE) the slider mounts are
manufactured not to have a 90 degree angle on the backside of the sill.
This allows the slider mount to clamp to the sill and also makes the
install easier. Once the bolts begin to tighten down on the Slider mount it
will pull the back of the sill up to the proper angle and clamp onto the
sill. (see picture)
